Welcome to the Northern California Youth Rugby Association (NCYRA)

NCYRA Rugby

The NCYRA is the USA Rugby sanctioned youth organization for Northern California, and is one of the largest State Based Rugby Organization (SBRO) in the United States. The NCYRA is comprised of more than 90 Clubs, 200 Teams, 4,000 players (both boys and girls), all playing in 13 Divisions ranging from Coed Under 8 through High School Varsity. The NCYRA stretches from Kings County up to the Oregon border.

Rugby is one of the fastest growing sports in the United States, for both boys and girls, and there are several good reasons why. First and foremost: it is fun. It offers players an opportunity to participate in a fast-paced, dynamic and exciting athletic environment. All the players get to run, pass, catch and kick the ball, tackle an opponent and then support each other around a wide open pitch. Second: it is the quintessential team sport, where everything on a rugby pitch is based upon working together. Third: rugby is truly an international sport, second only to soccer, with more than 100 countries worldwide competing at all levels. And last, but not least: it is all about camaraderie, not just among teammates, but with the competition as well (after the match, of course). There is no other sport in the world quite like rugby, and that is why it is so popular.

Please enjoy our new site and feel free to contact us if you have any questions. We look forward to seeing you at the pitch this season, either on the field or on the sidelines. Either way, once you join the rugby community, you become part of the Rugby Family forever!

-Cheers.
